Abstract

This study investigated the influence of integrating web-quest technology on learning effectiveness for global competitiveness among Open University students in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Two research questions guided the study and two hypotheses were tested at a 0.05 level of significance. Expost-factor the design was adopted for the study. The population of the study was 234 year 3 students of the National Open University in the 2018/2019 academic session in Uyo study center. The census method which allows for the study of all subjects in the population was used because of the small size of the population. Two instruments were used for data collection: perception of web-quest integration and student’s competence questionnaire (PWQISCQ) and the learning effectiveness test (LET). The reliability of both instruments was determined with an overall index of 0.72. Data collected were subjected to statistical analysis using descriptive statistics to answer research questions and inferential statistics involving one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to test all hypotheses at .05 Alpha levels. The study revealed among others that there was a significant influence of students’ perception of integrating web-quest technology on learning effectiveness for global competitiveness among Open University students in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
