Open and Distance Learning (ODL) as a veritable tool in teacher preparation beyond the 21 st century in Nigeria which is the twist of this paper, is considered very appropriate at this material time in the educational development of our great country. It is also in realization of the global reality of acceptability of Distance Education (DE) as an alternative sure mode of providing qualitative education in a manner that will enhance manifestation of educational opportunities. The rate at which nations of the world have been utilizing DE to solving their socioeconomic problems has been so encouraging. An interesting yet a point to note is that the acceptability cuts across developed and developing nations.
