The paper highlights the uses of information and communication technology in teaching and learning of mathematics. Various advantages of using ICT in mathematics education are pointed out. A major problem of using ICT in primary and secondary schools is that many mathematics teachers in the schools are not adequately trained on the use of ICT. Even with improved power supply, most schools in urban and rural areas in Nigeria lack computer centres. As students’ mathematics achievement has been in a poor state, the paper suggests the use of ICT to improve students’ achievement in the subject. Nigeria wants to become one of the world’s twenty most technologically advanced nations by the year 2020. The paper recommends that all tiers of governments should provide in-service training for mathematics teachers on the use of ICT and fund the introduction of ICT in Nigerian primary and secondary schools.
